અથ સપ્તત્રિંશસ્સર્ગઃ

સીતા તદ્વચનં શ્રુત્વા પૂર્ણચંદ્ર નિભાનના|
હનૂમંત મુવાચેદં ધર્માર્થસહિતં વચઃ||1||

સ|| સીતા પૂર્ણચંદ્ર નિભાનના ધર્માર્થસહિતં તદ્વચનં શ્રુત્વા હનુમંતં ઇદં વચઃ ઉવાચ||

Sita who has a face like that of the moon, having heard the words full of righteousness, spoke as follows.

અમૃતં વિષસંસ્પૃષ્ટં ત્વયા વાનરભાષિતમ્|
યચ્ચ નાન્યમના રામો યચ્ચ શોકપરાયણઃ||2||
ઐશ્વર્યે વા સુવિસ્તીર્ણે વ્યસને વા સુદારુણે|
રજ્જ્વેવ પુરુષં બદ્ધ્વા કૃતાંતં પરિકર્ષતિ||3||
વિધિર્નૂનમસંહાર્યઃ પ્રાણિનાં પ્લવગોત્તમઃ|
સૌમિત્રં માં ચ રામં ચ વ્યસનૈઃ પશ્ય મોહિતાન્||4||

સ||વાનર ત્વયા યચ્ચરામઃ ન અન્યમના યચ્ચ શોકપરાયણઃ ઇતિ ભાષિતં (તત્) અમૃતં વિષસંસ્પૃષ્ટં||કૃતાંતઃ પુરુષઃ રજ્જ્વા બદ્ધ્વા ઇવ સુવિસ્તીર્ણે ઇસ્વર્યે વા સુદારુણે વ્યસને વા પરિકર્ષતિ ||પ્લવગોત્તમ પ્રાણિનામ્ નૂનં વિધિઃ અસંહાર્યઃ | વ્યસનૈઃ મોહિતાન્ સૌમિત્રિં માં ચ રામં ચ પશ્ય||

' Oh Vanara ! The words you said that Rama is not thinking of any other thing and that he is immersed in sorrow, are like nectar mixed with poison. Death will snatch a man with a rope whether he is in great fortune or drowning in adversity. Oh Best of Vanaras ! Surely it is not possible to overcome fate. See how Rama , Lakshmana and myself are afflicted by sorrows'.

શોકસ્યાસ્ય કદા પારં રાઘવોsધિગમિષ્યતિ|
પ્લવમાનઃ પરિશ્રાંતો હતનૌ સ્સાગરે યથા||5||
રાક્ષાસાનાં વધં કૃત્વા સૂદયિત્વા ચ રાવણં|
લંકા મુન્મૂલિતાં કૃત્વા કદા દ્રક્ષ્યતિ માં પતિઃ||6||

સ|| સાગરે હતનૌઃ પ્લવમાનઃ પરિશ્રાંતઃ યથા રાઘવઃ અસ્ય શોકસ્ય પારં કદા અધિગમિષ્યસિ ||કદા રાક્ષસાનાં ચ વધં કૃત્વા રાવણં સૂદયિત્વા કદા લંકાં ઉન્મૂલિતાં કૃત્વા માં પતિઃ દ્રક્ષ્યતિ ||

' Raghava who suffered like the one getting drowned in a ship wreck, when will he reach the shore of the ocean of grief. When will he kill the Rakshasas, kill Ravana, and uproot Lanka ? When will he see me?'

સ વાચ્ય સંત્વરસ્યેતિ યાવ દેવ ન પૂર્યતે|
અયં સંવત્સરઃ કાલઃ તાવદ્ધિ મમ જીવિતમ્||7||
વર્તતે દશમે માસો દ્વૌતુ શેષૌ પ્લવંગમ|
રાવણેન નૃશંસેન સમયો યઃ કૃતો મમ||8||

સ|| અયં સંવત્સર કાલઃ યાવદેવ ન પૂર્યતે સંત્વરસ્યેતિ સઃ વાચ્યઃ | મમ જીવિતં તાવદ્ધિઃ|| પ્લવંગમ રાવણેન નૃશંસેન મમ કૃતઃ સમયઃ દશમે માસઃ વર્તતે | શેષઃ દ્વૌ તુ||

' There is a time limit of one year. Before it is completed you must inform him. I am alive till that tme only. Oh Vanara in the time given by the wicked Ravana, this is the the tenth month. Only two months are remaining '.

વિભીષણેન ચ ભ્રાત્રા મમ નિર્યાતનં પ્રતિ|
અનુનીતઃ પ્રયત્નેન ન ચ તત્ કુરુતે મતિમ્||9||
મમ પ્રતિ પ્રદાનં હિ રાવણસ્ય ન રોચતે|
રાવણં માર્ગતે સંખ્યે મૃત્યુઃ કાલવશં ગતમ્||10||
જ્યેષ્ઠા કન્યાsનલા નામ વિભીષણ સુતા કપે|
તયા મમેદ માખ્યાતં માત્રા પ્રહિતયા સ્વયમ્||11||

સ|| ભ્રાત્રા વિભીષણેન મમ નિર્યાતનં પ્રતિ પ્રયત્નેન અનુનીતઃ | તત્ મતિં ન કુરુતે||મમ પ્રતિ પ્રદાનં હિ રાવણસ્ય ન રોચતે | કાલવશં ગતં રાવણં સંખ્યે મૃત્યુઃ માર્ગતે|| કપે નલા નામ વિભીષણ જ્યેષ્ટા સુતા કન્યા માત્રા પ્રહિતયા તયા સ્વયં મમ ઇદં આખ્યાતં ||

'(Ravana's) Brother Vibhishana made efforts to advise my restoration. Such thought has not been agreed to. Ravana does not like to return me. Having fallen into the trap of time, Ravana is in search of death in a war. Oh Vanara ! The eldest daughter of Vibhishana by name Nala sent by her mother told this to me.

અસંશયં હરિશ્રેષ્ઠ ક્ષિપ્રં માં પ્રાપ્સ્યતે પતિઃ|
અંતરાત્મા હિ મે શુદ્ધઃ તસ્મિં શ્ચ બહવો ગુણાઃ||12||
ઉત્સાહઃ પૌરુષં સત્ત્વ માનૃશંસ્યં કૃતજ્ઞતા|
વિક્રમશ્ચ પ્રભાવશ્ચ સંતિ વાનર રાઘવે||13||
ચતુર્દશ સહસ્રાણિ રાક્ષસાનાં જઘાન યઃ|
જનસ્થાને વિના ભ્રાત્રા શત્રુઃ કઃ તસ્ય નો દ્વિજેત્||14||
ન સ શક્ય સ્તુલયિતું વ્યસનૈઃ પુરુષર્ષભ|
અહં તસ્ય પ્રભાવજ્ઞા શક્રસ્યેવ પુલોમજા||15||
શરજાલાંશુમાન્ શૂરઃ કપે રામદિવાકરઃ|
શત્રુરક્ષોમયં તોયં ઉપશોષં નયિષ્યતિ||16||

સ|| હરિશ્રેષ્ઠ પતિઃ ક્ષિપ્રં માં અસંશયં પ્રાપ્સ્યતિ| મે અંતરાત્માચ શુદ્ધઃ તસ્મિંશ્ચ બહવઃ ગુણાઃ | વાનર રાઘવે ઉત્સાહઃ પૌરુષં સત્ત્વં અનૃશંસ્યં કૃતજ્ઞતા વિક્રમશ્ચ પ્રભવશ્ચ સંતિ || યઃ જનસ્થાને વિના ભ્રાત્રા ચતુર્દશ સહસ્રાણિ રાક્ષસાનાં જઘાન તસ્ય કઃ શત્રુઃ નઃ દ્વિજેત્ ||સઃ પુરુષર્ષભઃ વ્યસનૈઃ તુલયિતું ન શક્યઃ | પુલોમજા શક્રસ્યેવ અહં તસ્ય પ્રભાવજ્ઞા||કપે શૂરઃ રામ દિવાકરઃ શરજાલાંશુમાન્ શત્રુરક્ષોમયં તોયં ઉપશોષં નયિષ્યતિ ||

' Oh best of Vanaras ! My husband will reach this place soon no doubt about that. My conscience tells me of Rama's many virtues. Oh Vanara ! Raghava is endowed with perseverance , manliness, prowess, kindness, gratitude , competence, and power. Who is the enemy that will not tremble before the one who on his own without his brother's help killed fourteen thousand Rakshasas in Janasthana. Oh bull among men! He will not be shaken by sorrow. Like Puloma daughter of Indra I know his powers. Oh Vanara ! The Valiant Rama like the Sun with his volleys of dazzling arrows will dry up the sea of enemy forces'.

ઇતિ સંજલ્પમાનાં તાં રામાર્થે શોકકર્ષિતામ્|
અશ્રુસંપૂર્ણનયનાં ઉવાચ વચનં કપિઃ||17||

સ|| ઇતિ સંજલ્પમાનાં રામાર્થે શોકકર્શિતાં અશ્રુ સંપૂણનયનાં તાં કપિઃ (ઇદં) વચનં ઉવાચ||

While she was speaking freely about Rama, tormented by sorrow, her eyes filled with tears . Then Vanara spoke to her.

શ્રુત્વૈવતુ વચો મહ્યં ક્ષિપ્ર મેષ્યતિ રાઘવઃ|
ચમૂં પ્રકર્ષન્મહતીં હર્યૃક્ષગણસંકુલામ્||18||
અથવા મોચયિષ્યામિ ત્વાં અદ્યૈવ વરાનને|
અસ્માત્ દુઃખાત્ ઉપારોહ મમ પૃષ્ઠમનિંદિતે||19||
ત્વાં હિ પૃષ્ઠગતાં કૃત્વા સંતરિષ્યામિ સાગરમ્|
શક્તિ રસ્તિહિ મે વોઢું લંકા મપિ સ રાવણમ્||20||

સ|| રાઘવઃ શ્રુત્વૈવતુ મહ્યં વચઃ ક્ષિપ્રં એષ્યતિ ચમૂં પ્રકર્ષન્ મહતીં હર્યક્ષુગણસંકુલાં ||વરાનને અથવા અદ્યૈવ ત્વાં અસ્માત્ દુઃખાત્ મોચયિષ્યામિ | અનિંદિતે મમ પૃષ્ટં ઉપારોહ||ત્વાં પૃષ્ઠગતાં કૃત્વા સાગરં સંતરિષ્યામિ | મે સરાવણં લંકાં અપિ વોઢું શક્તિઃ અસ્તિ હિ||

' Raghava , on hearing my words will soon come here leading a huge army of Vanaras and bears. Oh Beautiful Lady ! Today itself I will redeem you from your grief . Oh Blameless lady you climb on my back. Keeping you on my back I will cross the ocean. I have the power to lift the whole of Lanka along with Ravana '.

અહં પ્રસ્રવણ સ્થાય રાઘવાયાદ્ય મૈથિલિ|
પ્રાપયિષ્યામિ શક્રાય હવ્યં હુત મિવાનલઃ||21||
દ્રક્ષ સ્યદ્યૈવ વૈદેહિ રાઘવં સહ લક્ષ્મણમ્|
વ્યવસાય સમાયુક્તં વિષ્ણું દૈત્યવથે યથા||22||
ત્વદ્દર્શનકૃતોત્સાહમાશ્રમસ્થં મહાબલમ્|
પુરંદર મિવાસીનં નાગરાજસ્ય મૂર્થનિ||23||

સ|| મૈથિલિ અનલઃ હુતં હવ્યં શક્રાય અહં પ્રસ્રવણસ્થાય અદ્યૈવ પ્રાપયિષ્યામિ || વૈદેહિ દૈત્ય વધે વ્યવસાય સમાયુક્તં વિષ્ણું યથા સહલક્ષ્મણં રાઘવં અદ્યૈવ દ્રક્ષ્યસિ ||ત્વદ્દર્શન કૃતોત્સાહં આશ્રમસ્થં મહાબલં નાગરાજસ્ય મૂર્ધનિ આસીનં પુરંદરમ્ ઇવ ||

' Maithili ! Like the sacred fire which carries the oblation to Indra, I will carry you to the one on Prasravana mountain today. Vaidehi, you will see Rama together with Lakshmana making all out efforts in killing Rakshasas like Vishnu killed Daityas. Rama staying in the ashram will be enthused in seeing you like the Indra seated on the king of elephants'.

પૃષ્ઠમારોહ મેદેવી મા વિકાંક્ષસ્વ શોભને|
યોગમન્વિચ્છ રામેણ શશાંકે નેવ રોહિણી||24||
કથયંતીવ ચંદ્રેણ સૂર્યેણ ચ મહાર્ચિષા|
મત્પૃષ્ઠમધિરુહ્ય ત્વં તરાssકાશમહાર્ણવૌ||25||
ન હિ મે સંપ્રયાતસ્ય ત્વા મિતો નયતો અંગને|
અનુગંતું ગતિં શક્તા સ્સર્વે લંકાનિવાસિનઃ||26||
યથૈવાહ મિહ પ્રાપ્તઃ તથૈવાહમસંશયઃ|
યાસ્યામિ પશ્ય વૈદેહી ત્વામુદ્યમ વિહાયસમ્||27||

સ|| દેવી મમ પૃષ્ટં આરોહ| શોભને મા વિકાંક્ષસ્વ | રોહિણી શશાંકેનૈવ (ત્વં) રામેણ યોગં અન્વિચ્છ||ત્વં મત્ પૃષ્ઠં અધિરુહ્ય ચંદ્રેણ મહાર્ચિષા સૂર્યેણ કથયંતીવ આકાશ મહાર્ણવૌ તર||અંગને ત્વાં ઇતઃ નયતઃ સંપ્રયાતસ્ય મે ગતિં અનુગંતું સર્વે લંકાનિવાસિનઃ ન શક્તાઃ ||વૈદેહિ યથૈવ અહં ઇહ પ્રાપ્તસ્થઃ એવ અહં ત્વાં ઉદ્યમ્ય યાસ્યામિ વિહાયસં ન સંશયમ્||

' Oh Divine Lady ! Climb on my back , do not be reluctant. Like Moon joining Rohini, you can unite with Rama. Climbing on my back you can cross the sky and ocean conversing with Moon and the flaming Sun. Oh Beautiful Lady! It is not possible for any of the inhabitants of Lanka to speedily follow me while I carry you from this place. Vaidehi ! Just as I reached here, similarly taking you on my back I will go across the sky. I have no doubt '.

મૈથિલી તુ હરિશ્રેષ્ઠાત્ શ્રુત્વા વચનમદ્ભુતમ્|
હર્ષવિસ્મિત સર્વાંગી હનુમંત મથાબ્રવીત્||28||
હનુમન્ દૂર મધ્વાનં કથં માં વોઢુમિચ્છસિ|
તદેવ ખલુ તે મન્યે કપિત્વં હરિયૂથપ||29||
કથં વાલ્પશરીરસ્ત્વં મામિતો નેતુ મિચ્છસિ|
સકાશં માનવેંદ્રસ્ય ભર્તુર્મે પ્લવગર્ષભ||30||

સ|| મૈથિલી હરિશ્રેષ્ઠાત્ અદ્ભુતં વચનં શ્રુત્વા હર્ષ વિસ્મિત સર્વાંગી અથ હનુમંતં અબ્રવીત્ ||હનુમાન્ દૂરં અધ્વાનં માં વોઢું કથં ઇચ્છસિ | હરિયૂથપ તે કપિત્વં તદેવ ખલુ મન્યે||વાનરર્ષભ અલ્પશરીરઃ ત્વં ઇતઃ મે ભર્તુઃ માનવેંદ્રસ્ય નેતું કથં વા ઇચ્છસિ||

Maithili, hearing those wonderful words of the best of Vanaras, was delighted experiencing joy and said the following. 'Hanuman ! How do you intend to carry me to such a distant place. This is truly your monkey nature. Oh Bull among Vanaras with your small body how will you take me to the lord of men and my husband '.

સીતાયા વચનં શ્રુત્વા હનુમાન્ મારુતાત્મજઃ|
ચિંતયામાસ લક્ષ્મીવાન્નવં પરિભવં કૃતમ્||31||
ન મે જાનાતિ સત્ત્વં વા પ્રભાવં વાsસિતેક્ષણા|
તસ્માત્ પશ્યતુ વૈદેહી યદ્રૂપં મમ કામતઃ||32||
ઇતિ સંચિત્ય હનુમાંસ્તદા પ્લવગસત્તમઃ|
દર્શયામાસ વૈદેહ્યાઃ સ્વરૂપ મરિમર્દનઃ||33||

સ|| હનુમાન્ લક્ષ્મીવાન્ મારુતાત્મજઃ સીતાયાઃ વચનં શ્રુત્વા નવં પરિભવં કૃતં ચિંતયામાસ|| અસિતેક્ષણા મે સત્ત્વં વા પ્રભવં ન જાનાતિ | તસ્માત્ કામતઃ મમ યદ્રૂપં (તત્) વૈદેહિ પશ્યતુ ||ઇતિ સંચિત્ય તદા પ્લવગસત્તમઃ હનુમાન્ અરિમર્દનઃ વૈદેહ્યાઃ સ્વરૂપં દર્શયામાસ||

The illustrious Hanuman, son of wind god hearing those words of Sita saw a new insult hurled at him. The Black eyed lady is not aware of my powers. Therefore let Vaidehi see the form I can assume of my free will. Thinking thus Hanuman , the best of fliers and crusher of enemies started showing his real form to Vaidehi.

સ તસ્માત્પાદપાદ્ધીમાનાપ્લુત્ય પ્લવગર્ષભઃ|
તતો વર્થિતુ મારેભે સીતાપ્રત્યયકારણાત્||34||
મેરુમંદર સંકાશો બભૌ દીપ્તાનલપ્રભઃ|
અગ્રતો વ્યવતસ્થે ચ સીતાયા વાનરોત્તમઃ||35||
હરિઃ પર્વત સંકાશઃ તામ્રવક્ત્રો મહાબલઃ|
વજ્રદંષ્ટ્રો નખો ભીમો વૈદેહીં ઇદમબ્રવીત્||36||

સ|| ધીમાન્ પ્લવગર્ષભઃ સઃ તસ્માત્ પાદપાત્ આપ્લુત્ય તતઃ સીતાપ્રત્યયકારણાત્ વર્ધિતું આરેભે|| વાનરોત્તમઃ મેરુમંદરસંકાસઃ દીપ્તાનલપ્રભઃ બભૌ | સીતાયાઃ અગ્રત્ઃ વ્યવતસ્થે||પર્વત સંકાશઃ તામ્રવક્ત્રઃ મહાબલઃ વજ્રદંષ્ટ્ર નખઃ ભીમઃ હરિઃ વૈદેહીં ઇદં અબ્રવીત્ ||

The wise bull among Vanaras , getting down from the tree started growing in size to increase the confidence of Sita.The best of Vanaras glowing like a blazing fire appeared like mount Meru or Mandara. Then he stood in front of Sita. Resembling a mountain in size, with red face, powerful, with teeth and nails strong like diamonds, looking fearsome , Hanuman spoke to Vaidehi.

સપર્વતવનોદ્દેશાં સાટ્ટપ્રાકાર તોરણામ્|
લંકા મિમાં સ નાધાં વા નયિતું શક્તિ રસ્તિ મે||37||
તદવસ્થાપ્યતાં બુદ્ધિ રલં દેવિ વિકાંક્ષયા|
વિશોકં કુરુ વૈદેહિ રાઘવં સહ લક્ષ્મણમ્||38||

સ|| સપર્વતવનોદ્દેશાં સાટ્ટપ્રાકારતોરણામ્ સનાથં ઇમામ્ લંકાં નયિતું મે શક્તિઃ અસ્તિ || દેવિ તત્ વિકાંક્ષસ્વ અલં બુદ્ધિઃ અવસ્થાપ્યતામ્ | વૈદેહિ સહલક્ષ્મણં રાઘવં વિશોકં કુરુ ||

'I have the power to carry whole of Lanka filled with mountains and gardens, forts ramparts and gateways along with its king. Oh Divine lady ! Enough of unworthy doubts. Be stable with your intellect. Oh Vaidehi rid Rama and Lakshmana of their sorrow'.

તં દૃષ્ટ્વા ભીમસંકાશં ઉવાચ જનકાત્મજા|
પદ્મપત્રવિશાલાક્ષી મારુત સ્યૌરસં સુતં||39||

સ|| પદ્મપત્રવિશાલાક્ષિ જનકાત્મજા તં ભીમસંકાસં મારુતસ્ય ઔરસં સુતં દૃષ્ટ્વા ઉવાચ||

The wide eyed lady, with eyes like lotus petals, the daughter of Janaka , seeing the fearsome form of the son of wind god spoke as follows.

તવસત્વં બલં ચૈવ વિજાનામિ મહાકપે|
વાયોરિવ ગતિં ચૈવ તેજશ્ચાગ્નેરિવાદ્ભુતમ્||40||
પ્રાકૃતોsન્યઃ કથં ચેમાં ભૂમિ માગંતુ મર્હતિ|
ઉદધે રપ્રમેયસ્ય પારં વાનરપુંગવ||41||
જાનામિ ગમને શક્તિં નયને ચાપિ તે મમ|
અવશ્યં સંપ્રધા ર્યાશુ કાર્યસિદ્ધિ ર્મહાત્મનઃ||42||

સ|| મહાકપે તવ સત્ત્વં બલં ચૈવ વાયોરિવ ગતિં આગ્નેરિવ અદ્ભુતં તેજઃ ચ વિજાનામિ ||વાનરપુંગવ પ્રાકૃતઃ અન્યઃ અપ્રમેયસ્ય ઉદધેઃ પારં ઇમાં ભૂમિં આગંતું કથં અર્હતિ|| ગમને મમ નયને ચ અપિ શક્તિં જાનામિ | મહાત્મનઃ કાર્યસિદ્ધિ અવશ્યં આશુ સંપ્રધાર્યા ||

' Oh Great Vanara ! I have understood your power and strength. The speed like that of wind , the brilliance like that of the fire is astonishing and splendid. Oh Best of Vanaras ! How can an ordinary person be capable of reaching this shore of the immeasurable ocean. I know that you have the power to carry me on the journey. After planning carefully the great people will surely achieve success '.

અયુક્તં તુ કપિશ્રેષ્ઠ મમ ગંતું ત્વયાsનઘ|
વાયુવેગ સવેગસ્ય વેગો માં મોહયેત્તવ||43||
અહમાકાશ માપન્ના હ્યુપર્યુપરિ સાગરમ્|
પ્રપતેયં હિ તે પૃષ્ઠાદ્ભયાદ્વેગેન ગચ્છતઃ||44||
પતિતા સાગરે ચાહં તિમિનક્રઝુષાકુલે|
ભવેય માશુ વિવશા યાદસામન્નમુત્તમમ્||45||

સ|| અનઘ કપિશ્રેષ્ઠ ત્વયા મમ ગંતું અયુક્તં | વાયુવેગસવેગસ્ય તવ વેગઃ મામ્ મોહયેત્ ||સાગરસ્ય ઉપરિ આકાશં અહં વેગેન ગચ્છતઃ તે પૃષ્ટાત્ ભયાત્ આપન્ના પ્રપતેયં||તિમિનક્રઝષાકુલે સાગરે પતિતા અહં વિવશા આશુ યાદસાં ઉત્તમં અન્નં ભવેયં||

'Oh Sinless one , best of Vanaras , It is not proper for me to come with you. Your speed like that of the wind will render me unconscious. When you go over the sea speedily , out of fear I may fall off from your back. Falling in to the sea filled with crocodiles I will be helpless and immediately be good for the aquatic animals '.

ન ચ શક્ષ્યે ત્વયા સાર્થં ગંતું શત્રુવિનાશન|
કળત્રવતિ સંદેહઃ ત્વય્યપિ સ્યાદસંશયઃ||46||
હ્રિયમાણાં તુ માં દૃષ્ટ્વા રાક્ષસા ભીમવિક્રમાઃ|
અનુગચ્છેયુ રાદિષ્ટા રાવણેન દુરાત્મના||47||
તૈસ્ત્વં પરિવૃત શ્શૂરૈઃ શૂલ મુદ્ગર પાણિભિઃ|
ભવેસ્ત્વં સંશયં પ્રાપ્તો મયા વીર કળત્રવાન્||48||

સ|| હે શત્રુવિનાશન ત્વયા સાર્થં ગંતું ન શક્ષ્યે ચ કળત્રવતિ ત્વય્યપિ સંદેહઃ સ્યાત્ અસંશયઃ|| હ્રિયમાણાં માં દૃષ્ટ્વા ભીમવિક્રમાઃ રાક્ષસાઃ દુરાત્મના રાવણેન આદિષ્ટાઃ અનુગચ્છેયુઃ ||ત્વં શૂલમુદ્ગરપાણિભિઃ તૈઃ શૂરૈઃ પરિવૃતઃ વીર મયા કળત્રવાન્ ત્વં સંશયં પ્રાપ્તઃ ભવેઃ||

'Oh Destroyer of foes ! It is not possible for me to go with you . When you are burdened with a woman doubtlessly you will have a concern too. Seeing me while being carried away, the fearsome Rakshasas ordered by the evil Ravana will follow you. Oh Hero ! Being surrounded by those warriors and carrying me, you too will have a concern'.

સાયુધો બહવો વ્યોમ્નિ રાક્ષાસાસ્ત્વં નિરાયુધઃ|
કથં શક્ષ્યસિ સંયાતું માં ચૈવ પરિરક્ષિતુમ્||49||
યુધ્યમાનસ્ય રક્ષોભિઃ તવ તૈઃ ક્રૂરકર્મભિઃ|
પ્રપતેયં હિ તે પૃષ્ઠાત્ ભયાર્તા કપિસત્તમ||50||
અથ રક્ષાંસિ ભીમાનિ મહંતિ બલવંતિ ચ|
કથંચિત્ સાંપરાયે ત્વાં જયેયુઃ કપિસત્તમ||51||

સ|| વ્યોમ્નિ સાયુધાઃ રાક્ષસાઃ બહવઃ ત્વં નિરાયુથઃ સંયાતું માં પરિરક્ષિતું ચ કથં શક્ષ્યસિ ||કપિસત્તમઃ તવ ક્રૂરકર્મભિઃ તૈઃ યુધ્યમાનસ્ય ભયાર્તા તે પૃષ્ઠાત્ પ્રપતેયં હિ ||કપિસત્તમ અથ ભીમાનિ મહંતિ બલવંતિ ચ રક્ષાંસિ સાંપરાયે કથંચિત્ ત્વં જયેયુઃ||

' In the sky there will be many armed Rakshasas, and you will be alone without weapons. How can you fight and protect me too? Oh Best of Vanaras , while you are battling those who do wicked deeds , out of fear I may fall off your back. Oh Best of Vanaras ! The fearsome massive powerful Rakshasa may some how win over you in the fight '.

અથવા યુધ્યમાનસ્ય પતેયં વિમુખસ્ય તે|
પતિતાં ચ ગૃહીત્વા માં નયેયુઃ પાપરાક્ષસાઃ||52||
માં વા હરેયુ સ્ત્વદ્દસ્તાદ્વિશસેયુરથાપિ વા|
અવ્યવસ્થૌ હિ દૃશ્યેતે યુદ્ધે જયાપરાજયૌ||53||
અહં વાપિ વિપદ્યેયં રક્ષોભિ રભિતર્જિતા|
ત્વત્પ્રયત્નો હરિશ્રેષ્ઠ ભવે ન્નિષ્ફલ એવ તુ||54||

સ|| અથવા યુધ્યમાનસ્ય તે વિમિખસ્ય પતેયું પતિતાં મામ્ ગૃહીત્વા પાપ રાક્ષસાઃ નયેયુઃ||ત્વત્ હસ્તાત્ મામ્ હરેયુઃ અથાપિ વા વિશસેયુઃ | યુદ્ધે જયાપરાજયૌ અવ્યવસ્થૌ દૃશ્યતે હિ||હરિશ્રેષ્ઠ રક્ષોભિઃ અભિતર્જિતા અહં વિપદ્યેયં વાપિ ત્વત્પ્રયત્નઃ નિષ્ફલઃ એવ તુ ભવેત્ ||

'Or else while you are engaged in the fight when you turn your attention away, I may fall down. While I fall down the sinful Rakshasas may take me away. From your hands they may take me away or cut me to pieces. The success or defeat in a war is seen as uncertain. Oh Best of Vanaras ! In case I am caught by Rakshasas and intimidated and die, then all your effort would be waste too'.

કામં ત્વ મસિ પર્યાપ્તો નિહંતું સર્વરાક્ષસાન્ |
રાઘવસ્ય યશો હીયેત્ત્વયા શસ્તૈસ્તુ રાક્ષસૈઃ||55||
અથવાssદાયા રક્ષાંસિ ન્યસેયુ સ્સંવૃતે હિ મામ્|
યત્ર તે નાભિજાનીયુર્હરયો નાપિ રાઘવૌ||56||
આરંભસ્તુ મદર્થો યં તતસ્તવ નિરર્થકઃ|
ત્વયા હિ સહ રામસ્ય મહાનાગમને ગુણઃ||57||
મયિ જીવિત માયત્તં રાઘવસ્ય મહાત્મનઃ|
ભાતૄણાં ચ મહાબાહો તવ રાજ કુલસ્ય ચ||58||
તૌ નિરાશૌ મદર્થં તુ શોકસંતાપકર્શિતૌ|
સહ સર્વર્ક્ષહરિભિસ્ત્યક્ષતઃ પ્રાણ સંગ્રહમ્||59||

સ|| ત્વં સર્વરક્ષસાન્ નિહંતું પર્યાપ્તઃ અપિ કામં ત્વયા શસ્તૈ રાક્ષસૈઃ રાઘવસ્ય યશઃ હીયેત્ ||અથવા રક્ષાંસિ માં આદાય યત્ર તે હરયઃ રાઘવૌ અપિ નાભિજાનીયુઃ સંવૃતે ન્યસેયુઃ ||તતઃ મદર્થઃ તવ આરંભસ્તુ નિરર્થકઃ | ત્વયા સહ રામસ્ય આગમને મહાન્ ગુણઃ||મહાબલે મહાત્મનઃ રામસ્ય ભ્રાત્રૂણાં તવ રાજકુલસ્ય જીવિતં મયિ આયત્તં||મદર્થં શોકસંતાપકર્શિતૌ તૌ નિરાશૌ સર્વર્ક્ષ હરિભિઃ પ્રાણસંગ્રહં ત્યક્ષતઃ||

'You may be able to kill all the Rakshasas. But by that act of your killing Rakshasas Rama's fame will be diminished. Or else the Rakshasas having brought me back will conceal me in a place which neither Raghava nor you will know. So for my sake the effort you started will be a waste. Rama coming along with you will be great. Oh Powerful one ! The survival of Rama , his brothers, your kings relatives and yourself is dependent on my survival. Both of them immersed in sorrow , and with hopes lost , and all the Vanaras too will give up their lives'.

ભર્તૃ ભક્તિં પુરસ્કૃત્ય રામાદન્યસ્ય વાનર|
ન સ્પૃશામિ શરીરં તુ પુંસો વાનર પુંગવ||60||
યદહં ગાત્ર સંસ્પર્શં રાવણસ્ય બલાદ્ગતા|
અનીશા કિં કરિષ્યામિ વિનાથા વિવશા સતી||61||
યદિ રામો દશગ્રીવમિહ હત્વા સ બાંધવમ્|
મામિતો ગૃહ્ય ગચ્છેત્તત્તસ્ય સદૃશં ભવેત્||62||

સ|| વાનરપુંગવ ભર્તુઃ ભક્તિં પુરસ્કૃત્ય રામાત્ અન્યસ્ય શરીરં તુ ન સ્પ્રુશામિ ||અહં બલાત્ રાવણસ્ય ગાત્રસંસ્પર્શં ગતા યત્ અનીશા વિવશા સતી | વિનાથા કિં કરિષ્યામિ ||રામઃ સબાંધવં દશગ્રીવં ઇહ હત્વા માં ઇતઃ ગૃહ્ય ગચ્છેત્ યદિ તત્ તસ્ય સદૃશં ભવેત્ ||

'Oh Best of Vanaras ! Devoted to my husband I cannot touch the body of any other person. I had body contact with Ravana when I was forcefully brought, as I had no control on myself. Without my husband what can I do. If Rama along with his relations kills Ravana along with all his relations here and takes me from here that will be proper '.

શ્રુતા હિ દૃષ્ટા શ્ચ મયા પરાક્રમા મહત્મનસ્તસ્ય રણાવિમર્દિનઃ|
સ દેવગંધર્વભુજંગરાક્ષસા ભવંતિ રામેણ સમા હિ સંયુગે||63||
સમીક્ષ્ય તં સંયતિ ચિત્રકાર્મુકમ્ મહાબલં વાસવતુલ્યવિક્રમમ્|
સ લક્ષ્મણં કો વિષહેત રાઘવમ્ હૂતાશનં દીપ્ત મિવાનિલેરિતમ્||64||
સ લક્ષ્મણં રાઘવ માજિમર્દનમ્ દિશાગજં મત્તમિવ વ્યવસ્થિતમ્|
સ હેત કો વાનરમુખ્ય સંયુગે યુગાંત સૂર્યપ્રતિમં શરાર્ચિષમ્||65||

સ|| રણાવમર્દિનઃ મહાત્મનઃ તસ્ય પરાક્રમાઃ મયા શ્રુતાઃ દૃષ્ટાશ્ચ સંયુગે| દેવગંધર્વભુજંગરાક્ષસાઃ રામેન સમાઃ ન હિ||ચિત્રકાર્મુકં મહાબલં વાસવતુલ્યવિક્રમં સલક્ષ્મણં અનિલેરિતં દીપ્તં હુતાસનં ઇવ તં રાઘવં સયતિ સમીક્ષ્ય કઃ વિષહેતઃ||વાનરમુખ્ય સલક્ષ્મણં આજિમર્દનં મત્તં દિશગજં ઇવ વ્યવસ્થિતં શરાર્ચિષં યુગાંતસૂર્યપ્રતિમં રાઘવં સંયુગે કઃ સહેત્ ||

'I have heard and seen the valor of the great one who is a crusher of enemies in the war. There is no one equal to Ram in Devas, Gandharvas, Bhujangas, and Rakshasas. The wielder of powerful bow, endowed with great strength, is equal to Vasava in strength. He is like a blazing fire whipped by wind. Who can withstand the power of Rama along with Lakshmana. Oh Chief of Vanaras ! Who can withstand Rama along with Lakshmana, who are steady like the intoxicated elephants supporting the quarters , whose rays of arrows resemble the rays of the Sun at the time of deluge '.

સ મે હરિશ્રેષ્ઠ સ લક્ષ્મણં પતિં સયૂધપં ક્ષિપ્ર મિહોપપાદય|
ચિરાય રામં પ્રતિ શોકકર્શિતામ્ કુરુષ્વ માં વાનરમુખ્ય હર્ષિતાં||66||

સ|| હરિશ્રેષ્ઠ સઃ સલક્ષ્મણં સયૂથપં પતિં ક્ષિપ્રં ઇહ ઉપપાદય | વાનરમુખ્ય રામં પ્રતિ ચિરાય શોકકર્શિતાં માં હર્ષિતાં કુરુષ્વ||

' Oh Best of Vanaras, Bring him along with Lakshmana and the army of Vanaras here quickly. Oh Chief of Vanaras delight make me who is immersed in sorrow thinking of Rama'.

ઇત્યાર્ષે શ્રીમદ્રામાયણે આદિકાવ્યે વાલ્મીકીયે
ચતુર્વિંશત્ સહસ્રિકાયાં સંહિતાયામ્
શ્રીમત્સુંદરકાંડે સપ્તત્રિંશસ્સર્ગઃ ||
